Eric Legg was supposed to be married next week, his daughter Jessica told the Coal Valley News. She also said this was his last shift in that particular mine, and that he had been a miner for at least 32 years.

Gary Hensley had been a coal miner for only three or four years according to his son, Caleb, in the same interview. “Dad was self-employed, and when he got this job he felt is was a great opportunity for him.”

Eric leaves behind three children, two step children, and one grandson. Gary leaves being three children.

State Rep. Joshua Nelson, R-Boone, has set up a website to raise money for Legg and Hensley’s families. He told the Coal Valley News that all donations would go directly to the family. Their goal is $8,000.
