There are three high schools in the state called the Indians. There are seven with called the Tigers. And while we love Elkins and Matewan and all the rest, we really think some special prizes be awarded for these eight—the best high school mascots in West Virginia. And if you’re really bored, here’s a list of all the mascots.

7. The Bluefield Beavers

We also love that the high school’s newspaper is called The Beaver Voice.

6. The Madonna Blue Dons (Weirton)

This private Catholic school “dons” a blue knight on its logo… But we’re not exactly sure why.

5. The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees (Blacksville, Mon County)

Alliteration is the big winner on this list. Runners up: Fayetteville Falcons and the PikeView Panthers.

4. The Keyser Golden Tornado

Anybody know why they are the Tornado? Explain in the comments! Either way it’s still cool.

UPDATE: We tracked it down! How Keyser High School Became the Golden Tornado

3. The Williamson Wolfpack

Okay so Williamson High School in Mingo County closed in 2011. But we’re making this up as we go.

2. The Man High School Hillbillies

Oh Man, how could we leave this one out?

1. The Poca Dots

For those of you not familiar with the Dots, yes it’s a real team. And it just may be the world’s greatest mascot.
