UPDATE: Police now believe the poor dog’s paws were severed by an accident with a train, the Charleston Gazette reported Friday.
The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $5,000 reward to find the person who severed the front paws off a dog Tuesday in Kanawha County.
(We’ve chosen not to show the entire, disturbing photo on our site. You can see the NSFL photo on the Humane Society’s Facebook page.)
The Charleston Daily Mail reports that police “determined after examinations of the dog that his front two legs were severed by a cutting instrument” and not “severed by a train or farm equipment.” The dog’s owners flagged down a sheriff’s deputy Tuersday evening and took him to a vet. Sadly, they decided to put the dog down.
WHO WOULD DO THIS? Let’s catch this guy. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kanawha County Sheriff at 304-357-0169.
