Protests from Native American groups in recent years have prompted a debate over American Indian mascots across the country—most notably the Washington Redskins. Now Adidas, in conjunction with the White House Tribal Nations Conference, says it will offer financial support to high school looking to ditch such mascots.

The company “pledged to provide financial support to ensure the cost of changing is not prohibitive,” the AP reports. One advocacy group said there are 2,000 such mascots around the nation.
