From the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of West Virginia:

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – Daniel Lee Canter, 30, of Volga, West Virginia, was convicted of methamphetamine trafficking in federal court, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.

Canter was discovered in possession of methamphetamine in November 2014 in Lewis County, West Virginia. He pled guilty to one count of “Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.”

Daniel Lee Canter, 30, of Volga, faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
