What if the Thundering Herd could be bought and sold like a professional sports team? One study crunched the numbers and it may surprise you.

According to the study, Marshall Football is worth nearly $19 million.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the annual study done by a professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus ranks Marshall’s football program the 88th most valuable in the nation.

The study “analyzed each program’s revenues and expenses… to calculate what a college team would be worth on the open market, if it could be bought and sold like a professional franchise.”

The most valuable program in the nation? Ohio State is worth a cool $946 million.
