Yes, you read that right. This is not a drill. Let’s repeat for emphasis: West Virginia has a chocolate festival and you should go to it.

The festival will be held Saturday, April 9 in Lewisburg.

The grand feature of the Chocolate Festival is a chocolate tasting extravaganza! Downtown shops will be offering some 40,000 tastings of chocolate to festival go-ers in exchange for a ticket. Tickets are $1 each and you should probably buy them ahead of time.

In addition to the tasting, there will also be a 10k race and fun walk, two (FREE) showings of the 1971 classic “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” and a Mousse eating contest! Check out the full schedule.

If you haven’t been to Lewisburg in a while, its a great excuse for a family daytrip.

Lewisburg has been undergoing a revitalization over the past decade and was even voted America’s coolest small town in 2010. Plus it’s home to one of our favorite coffeeshops in the state, The Wild Bean.
