The Crossings Plaza in Elkview has been closed for more than a year.
The June 23, flood waters washed away the bridge, which was the plaza’s only way in and out.
This week the lights came back on. The new bridge is complete and open to the public.
Delivery trucks are now bringing truckloads of supplies to fill empty store shelves.
Kroger’s Fuel Center is the first business to reopen. Kroger’s grocery store will be reopening soon. The grocery store is finishing up a remodel.
Many of the people who worked at the plaza lost everything in the flood and have moved away others have moved on to other jobs so the plaza is now hiring.
The plaza’s anchor store, Kmart is hiring and plans to reopen September 1.
McDonald’s, LeNails, and Picanha Brazilian American Steakhouse plan to reopen by mid-August. Subway will open August 2 and Anytime Fitness on August 5. Advanced Auto Parts will reopen in early September and Goodwill will reopen, but they have not specified when.
