Every summer the State Fair of West Virginia shines.
Thousands of people attend the beloved, annual tradition.
It’s getting ready to sparkle again, just in time for Christmas and special holiday fun.
Christmas at the Fair begins Dec. 12 and will include a ice skating rink, large Christmas light show, indoor flea market and visits from Santa Claus.
There’s plenty of time to enjoy since the festivities will run through Jan. 1, 2018.
Events will be held in the Ag Pavilion on the north end of the grounds.
The skating rink will be outdoors, but the rink will be covered.
Event hours are 4-10 p.m. weekdays, and 2-10 p.m. weekends.
Skating will cost $20 for adults as well as those age 13 and up. It will be $10 for younger children.
Price includes skates, light show and visit with Santa.
Visits with Santa are free.
There will also be special pricing and hours for groups and private parties.
Dates and times are limited so be sure to call ahead if time.
The fairgrounds indoor flea market will also be opening in November and will remain open until December 20.
Features include antiques, collectibles, electronics, handmade items and gently-worn clothing.
This weekly flea market is held inside a heated building so you can enjoy your treasure hunting out of the cold,
Fairground officials are also inviting local businesses and civil groups to take part in the 7th aAnual Barn Decorating Contest at the Fairgrounds.
Participants will have an opportunity to decorate one of the ten harness racing barns.
The winning entry will receive $300, with second and third place receiving $200 and $100 respectively.
