It’s impossible to please everyone. Especially when it comes to the weather.

But French Creek Freddie made winter lovers happy when he predicted six more weeks of cold weather.

He saw his shadow after emerging from his den this morning at the West Virginia State Wildlife Center for Groundhog Day 2018.

And he’s not alone. Punxsutawney Phil got up a little earlier, but came to the same conclusion.

More winter is on the way, so get used to it. A crowd was in Upshur County waiting for him to come out despite chilly temperatures.

It was a cold, snowy day and school was cancelled due to the inclement weather.

The annual celebration included children’s activities, music, free hot chocolate and cookies so even the most disappointed had something to smile about.

It’s an event which began 41 years ago, and usually attracts hundreds of people regardless of the weather.
